"Relax! It Is Only A Game

"Relax- It's Only A Game?

The first point I want to make is quite simple to say and
tell  others to do, but it's so very hard to actually put
into practice.  Relax.

I really can't make it any simpler than that. Golf is fun.
Golf is a way to slow down your world and take a few deep
breaths. Not to become a place where you put even more
stress on your shoulders.

One of the fundamentals that you learn when you first pick
up a club is having a loose grip on the club is a basic must.
A looser grip means, better control over your swing. But,
when you're concerned about your distance, your stance,
hooking or slicing, then your hands, your arms, your
shoulders, your hips and legs will naturally tense up and
not be as fluid as you need them to perform a flawless,
fluid swing and follow through.

You can knock a few strokes off your game instantly if you
just take the time to empty your head of how your stance is
and just naturally let your body take over.

Now, I'm not saying that an incorrect stance is OK. The
basics will always apply. Your feet shoulder width, knees
bent, torso and back straight. But, that all comes with
practice and becomes habit after done correctly so many
times. Once you have your stance and your swing down, leave
it.

Stop worrying about changing it. There's only one way to
swing a club correctly for the best accuracy and distance.

The same thing goes for putting. Yes, there's a lot of
pressure with putting. It's the part of your game that can
really tack on the extra strokes, but that's usually
attributed to the extra pressure you put on yourself. Take
your time and breathe a little.

Line up your shot, without over analysing it. Read the
green, without trying to read too deeply into physics and
angles.

Take a few practice swings take a deep breath, step up to
the ball and putt. Chances are you've locked right onto the
cup.

Watch the next TV tournament, and you'll see the pros
missing more close putts than they do the fifteen to twenty
yard putts.

Until the next post

Taking Your Head Out of The Game

by Administrator 29. January 2010 07:17

So let's get started .......

Taking Your Head Out Of The Game!"

It's not a matter of "if" it will happen, but a matter of
"when" it will happen.

Of course, it happens to all of us so you don't have to feel
like you're alone. Maybe you're even going through it right
now.

We all go through a period when we start defeating ourselves
instead of the golf course.

When we start to second guess, or over analyse, every shot,
every approach, every club choice or trying to "improve" our
swing.

The monster hit you when you are trying to, ironically
enough, lose a few strokes off your game and get ready for a
local community tournament. You spent every minute you could
be practising to shave off a pesky two to three strokes.
Nothing too drastic then!

But, you start to evaluate every single aspect of your game.
You just knew that there was something that you were doing
wrong that I could easily take off a couple of extra strokes.

You become so obsessed with what you think you are doing
wrong that you start believing that everything you are doing
is wrong. After all those days of practice, when the day of
the tournament comes around, you play the absolute worse
three rounds of golf in your life. You end up a +18 and
finished almost last.

But, that is a good thing.

You realize a few things about this game we all love so
passionately. It's what I call my five-point process to
getting your head out of the game.

Why Do You Need Your Head Out Of The Game?

To answer that, let's go back to the tournament.

To get ready, you are spending all your time practicing
parts of your game that you have severely over analysed. You
didn't think your initial tee shot was good enough to get
you the distance you thought you needed. You did not think
that your putt was good enough so you practiced with a
different putter and from long distances to help lower your
score.

You didn't trust the abilities and skills you already had
and tried playing with your head rather than with my clubs.
You really thought that the only way to lower your score was
to completely change the way you played. Hey change is good
right? `

Not always.

Bringing Your Golf Scores To Life

by Administrator 29. January 2010 02:57

This first of my Blog Post to Help You to LOSE.... Several
Strokes Off Game Quickly and Easily

Remember what it was like the first time you picked up a
golf club?

The first time you took a swing at a golf ball?

Chances are, if you're like me it was at a driving range.
What a   fantastic place!

Where else can you go and let our your frustrations, by
swinging a club at a ball and driving it 200 yards
downrange, and have a ton of fun at the same time?

That's what getting started with golf was like for me. I
went to the driving range two  to three times a week and
spent hours just having fun. I wasn't thinking about what
club I was using, what the best approach to the green would
be, or trying to   read the green to make birdie with one
putt.

I was having a blast smashing that little white ball and
driving it as far as I could.

Then I got the idea that it would be a great time walking
all over golf courses chasing that little white ball and
trying to put it into a small cup.

It sure wasn't just taking a whack anymore. Now it was about

strategy and scores. Now it was about choosing which number
club to use. What approach do I take in reading my next
putt?

I love golf, but it was more like operating a business than
spending time playing my favourite sport.

Decisions, strategies, trying to think two strokes ahead ....

it  was work. I wasn't relaxed. I didn't feel refreshed
after each round. I even started struggling with my scores.

Yikes!

But, then I started learning a few things. I started to
learn how to get back my joy and lose those extra strokes
off my game.

With a few very simple techniques that you can do without
trying to learn a whole new swing, you too, can learn how to

get back to having a lot more fun and lose several strokes
off your game.

It won't cost you any extra money. You won't need any
private lessons. You can do this with pretty much the same
skill you have now. I say that pretty much for the simple
fact that as you practice and play more, your skill level
will increase anyway.

You will start to approach each round of golf with the same
joy that you experienced at the driving range and start to
produce lower and lower scores.

Until the Next Post
